I understand that you don't run SBS -- in my suggestion you would only have to run it when you wanted to create or update your list of favorites.
As for getting better Favorites handling on mysb.com, you can add your vote to 'Bug / enhancement 8692' (http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=8692).
