Thanks for your reply, Erland. I did read in an earlier post of yours about this tip, so I have changed channel to 2 (checked other discovered networks around here yesterday, and no others below 6) but no difference.
I should add that this is a problem when doing a soft "re-powerup". After a hard shutdown, the radio connects to the wlan.
