My bedside booms have always been rock solid on alarms for years. And I
like the radios as well. But I have to say, given your desire to mostly
have a classic alarm clock with snooze, etc., a $7 small form clock
radio (or just alarm) would probably be a better choice. 

p.s. If I absolutely must get up at a certain time, I use my Boom, my
iphone alarm, and an old fashioned alarm clock. I rarely have to get up
at a certain time, but when I do, I can't afford to miss and don't fully
trust any networked appliance (boom, radio, iphone) to work 100% of the
time.
