Ok thats probably me having such simple and oldfashioned router
myself.
much of the never stuff have old kinds of " features " that does not
really help with such a thing like setting up the network, feature
overloading stuff is the modern way. Who want's " guest networks " and
" familly filters " in the router ?
it was probably the " auto " word that got me suspicius :) it may work
fine ( or not ).

There could be all kinds of propriotary settings in routers designed to
make " faster wifi " that only work well the same brand wifi adapter in
the pc etc :-/ .

The idea is to get it as vanilla as possible, one network ( 192.168.0.x
) same subnet etc one DHCP if such thing are present, if static ip's are
in use keep the dhcp range of those, and my personal favorite wire
everything that is stationary, keep the wifi for the mobile stuff.
