Although I don't have mine on a power stip ( I too do a long press of the power button at night before bed) I have noticed it on after a power fail when power comes back. I also have a battery so it might be that. A bit of a PITA for you since the Radio doesnt make toast :) Hey it is about the right size, who knows maybe the next firmware update will allow it to do toast :)
Maybe just plug it into an outlet and just do the long press and be done with it. Other than the power brick I can't see it using a lot of juice ( Ahhh juice with toast) :) Or just unplug the power brick from the strip until you want to listen to the Radio?
