What happens when it fails? Aren't you prompted to enter a new password? IMO, the bug is filed for the wrong thing. A user should not have to tell the player to "forget" its settings and start over. As you say in the bug description, most intelligent devices figures out the authentication protocol on their own. The newer Squeezebox players supposedly also do this, but it may only be during initial setup. You'd think that failing authentication would be enough to goose the player into attempting to figure out the protocol once again. I'd be willing to bet that there are simpler workarounds. For example, maybe try changing the network type to ethernet, then back to wireless. Or try connecting to a different wireless network (if there happens to be one nearby), then when it fails switch back to the old one.
