Most of the posts on these forumes are (naturally) slanted towards users
with problems looking for support - and it can give the wrong impression
of overall quality, reliability etc. of Squeeze products. Well I've had
no problems so I thought I'd post this and try to re-assure those who
are wavering.

Having bought into the early implementations of SLIMP3 and every box
since then, we long since ditched CD's and have squeezeboxen in every
room. The only problem is my wife is a real technophobe (some people
just don't like it) and always gives me grief if there are the
slightest glitches (let's be honest - some releases of SBS could have
been better) - she hates remotes and keeps yearning for a 'simple'
radio with knobs and buttons (she listens mainly to the radio anyway).
I'd looked at SBR and also read (on this forum) about a lot of the
issues so never felt like shelling out to give it a go. Well in
December when Logitech sold off a load at 99 ukp incl. the remote and
battery I thought 'what the heck' and took a gamble. BRILLIANT! I
set up the buttons for her favorite stations, organised the menus so
all the complexity was down the bottom (or removed) and she is really
happy with it. We had a couple of drop-outs due to wifi coverage which
I fixed by changing access point channels and no problems. The battery
seems to last for ages and the sound is excellent for background radio.
It follows her round the house (even to rooms with touch's/duets)and
never seems to drop a beat.

So - the message here is that the radio can work excellently and I
would suggest that anyone who struggles with technology or who is
considering one for parents etc. should take the plunge and buy one.
Sure it could sound better, and possibly the wifi or apps could be
improved but we have had no issues with ours whatsoever - it just does
what it says on the box..
