Well, it is finally working. I'm not sure what it was, but starting
again from scratch has apparently fixed it.

I re-installed the Radio software, restored both the Radio and the
router to factory settings, turned the whole network off and unplugged
the power cables. Waited an hour. Then turned on the modem and let it
find the ISP. Then turned on the router and let it find the modem.
Then started the desktop computer and configured the router's internet
and basic wireless settings (no MAC reservation or filtering). Then
turned on the radio - and no luck, still no connection! Then
experimented and was finally able to connect radio to mysqueezebox.com
by setting router security to WPA instead of WPA2 and setting the
channel to 10 instead of auto. After the Radio connection was solid, I
then changed the router from WPA back to WPA2 and re-connected. Then
set router's channel back to auto and re-connected. Success! Then
turned on rest of network and now all is back in order. What a way to
spend a Sunday!
