That's exactly the problem. If the clock is unreliable and the NTP
tasks always adjust the time so that you just have a feeling of a good
clock ... then it confuses the Squeezeboxes timer so much, that it
fires late.

The current Squeezebox timer just counts milliseconds until the next
alarm, so isn't aware of your NTP task skipping/adding some
milliseconds.

That's why there is a workaround proposed in the other thread.
