Yes, completely agree. 
With the proliferation of network-enabled devices (receivers, tvs,
blu-rays, streamers, consoles) and only DLNA as standard, there was the
brief opportunity to push Squeezebox as an open platform rather than
just a handful of devices. But I don't suppose this was ever something
that would interest Logitech. 
Maybe I've missed the point, and Logitech have realised that we are all
soon to be slaves to the cloud, no need for local libraries at all. And
every electronics manufacturer with a soldering iron is starting to
offer a route to these online sources via smart apps etc. If so, then
the UE radio does make sense as an offering. 
For me, the transition from local to cloud doesn't seem imminent, but I
guess the existing Squeezebox products will cater for my needs for the
next couple of years at least.
