Figured it out.

Had something to do with the time zone setting. The setting on the
device was different than the one uesmartradio.com was showing. And
trying to change it again on the device would not make the website
"take" the new setting, it was still defaulting to something else.

Changed the setting manually through the web interface, alarm clock
works again. Sweet.
