I'm having this same problem with my Squeezebox radios. It only started since I upgraded to 7.7.2 for both firmware and server software. The odd thing is, wifi connectivity really isn't being lost, as the alarm will go off, and it will stream just fine. But, if you try to do anything with the menus, like My Music or set alarm it complains it isn't connected.
So I think they have broken something in either the firmware of the radio or the server. I don't notice this problem with my Duet or my Touch or my Transporter, but the Duet and Transporter are on ethernet. THe Touch is wireless. My guess is the radio firmware in 7.7.2 is messed up.
