Sounds very like this http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?95022-Squeezebox-Radio-Failing-to-Turn-On!&p=703199#post703199 but with no battery connected. Sometimes the radio fails to recognize that the power supply is connected. I raised a bug back in May http://bugs.slimdevices.com/show_bug.cgi?id=17956 but it is still unconfirmed. It is intermittent though so very hard to repeat on demand.
