I recently got approval (from the wife) to get another SB Radio for the kitchen - as long as it wasn't red! The only Black one available was a UE version from Amazon. I ordered it on the basis that I would be able to officially convert to SB firmware and be supported by Logitech.
Amazon shows the packag as having left the depot en route to my house! I am pretty tech savvy in that I have never had any issues with my existing Boom, Radio and SB+. Everything has pretty much always 'just worked'. I'm a bit concerned by the number of posts relating to problems with the switching from UE to SB. As I understand it the process would be; Switch on the radio (probably need to create a UE account at this point to enable the next point?) Ensure the radio updates firmware - or at least has the chance to? Find the option to switch to SB. Where is it? Switch to SB. Is that pretty much it?
