I'm not sure on your original question so I'll let others answer that. I do however have an alternative, do you have or use an Android or iOS device and use it to control your squeezebox? Either of them can be used as a player with the right software, sync the on device player with the radio so they play the same thing and then plug your phones in. Being portable you won't be tied to the radio by a wire.
