I've always had odd screensaver and Now Playing behavior on the Squeezebox Radio. It started during beta testing and exists to this day. It's never worked right.
Probably half the time that the Radio isn't playing, it will be stuck in the Now Playing screen instead of the clock screensaver, which is configured for when stopped. The other thing I see is that if it's in the clock screensaver and not playing and then I use the Radio's buttons and hit the right-arrow, it will inevitably say 'Nothing' or whatever it shows for an empty playlist.
