Hi all, Sorry that this thread is from 2010 and 2014 but the 'topic title' pretty much covers my current issue. I have a couple of Squeezeboxservers (LMS) under Max2Play tinkered versions of Raspbian Jessie Lite. And the problem I have is being unable to save playlists. The Music Library and Playlist folders are both saved under the same paths on both servers so I can easily copy them from one to another. They both reside on Large (to me at least) 64GB USB sticks These USB's are mounted at boot time via fstab with given user and group settings in the fstab :- UUID=25CE-5285 /media/usb0 vfat defaults,noatime,rw,uid=0,gid=100,umask=000,nofail 0 2 #Pi-LMS (the rw is probably redundant given the umask) And this works ... but what i'd like is :- UUID=25CE-5285 /media/usb0 vfat defaults,noatime,rw,uid=0,gid=100,umask=002,nofail 0 2 #Pi-LMS or even better ... UUID=25CE-5285 /media/usb0 vfat defaults,noatime,rw,uid=0,gid=100,umask=007,nofail 0 2 #Pi-LMS but both stop me from writting to the playlist folder stored at "/media/usb0/LMS Playlists" using any client This is weird as, given the mount, 'root' and 'users' should have read/write access to it from the local file system. 'users' consists of me, pi and squeezeboxsever (specifcally added to this group for this purpose). I can only assue that the LMS uses ANOther 'user' than squeezeboxserver for playlists ??? (don't see why though) I have used 'getent passwd' to list all users and they all look pretty normal apart from squeezeboxserver and no other look linked to LMS As I said I can get it to work, but only by relaxing security to (I think) an unreasonable extent. The Samba share is setup pretty much the same but does not have squeezeboxserver as a valid user as a) I don't think it should as it has local access b) why would LMS need access via SMB ? I would appreciate anyone being able to shed some light. I am aware that this is probably something stupid I have done Cheers Mutt
