Very interesting. My quick take is that the UE Radios are probably as susceptible to Bass drop-out as are the rev 0005s. I have had your #1 "instantaneous" experience on occasion. Actually on the first occasion, just like you did. But reality stepped in to squash my Eureka moment, as subsequent tests took longer to work through. I speculate that the "instantaneity" might be be due to additional time taken by an initial buffer/handle allocation in the speex upsampler. But only a guess. Interesting that your R1.4 test #3 seemed not to suffer from Bass-drop out, despite an apparent plethora of under-runs. Could there conceivably be something in R1.4 that changes behaviour ? I'm inclined to think not, but perhaps you might have a better idea. I haven't yet looked at the logs. The kernel errors you highlight reflect under-runs further down the chain, DMA->Serial lines from the look of it. Sometimes I see them, sometimes I don't, but they have always been preceded by a pcm error. SIER (SSI Interrupt Enable Register) and SISR (SSI Interrupt Status Register) seem to tell us what hardware interrupts are enabled, and the status of the failed/under-run transfer. I'm encouraged by the apparent success of #2 and #4 in curtailing ALSA under-runs. As you will have gathered, it is my belief that those under-runs are, sometimes, triggering an issue with the Crossover, so if the increased buffer size effectively fixes it..., well perhaps job almost done. I'll have a proper look at the logs over the next couple of days. And I'll assign one of my Radios to a longer term test. This extract from a recent post in connection with a UE Radio sounded like bass drop out to me: vissertw wrote: > The last thing matters sound, sometimes the sound is not normal, not > full, sounds a bit like a bad telephone sound, then I have to start up > the radio again in order to have the full sound with bass again. Thanks for trying it out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mrw's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38299 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104141 _______________________________________________ Radio mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
