I have a similar issue from time to time with my two Radios (one Squeezebox radio and an original UE Smart Radio now "Upgraded to a Squeexebox"). The sound will disappear, but as soon as I change the volume using the vol-button it starts playing again. Also pressing one of the presset buttons will bring the sound back. If this happens it will continue its bad behavior until I force the radio to reboot.
