It (bpa's suggestion) worked!

I left the Radio connected to the new (3rd party) PSU overnight, and it
eventually powered up.  I'm relieved that I don't have to take the Radio
apart. Thanks bpa.

(BTW, it would be surprising if a Radio killed a PSU; it would be a
particularly crappily designed PSU for that to happen, however it did
seem odd that (apparently) both the PSU and the Radio were dead).

Bedroom 1: SB Radio 2/4 no battery, SB Radio 3/4 with battery.

Bathroom: SB Radio 4/4, white, with (and running on) battery.
Unused 3: Slim Devices SB3, Logitech SB3.
Server: LMS v7.9.2 on piCorePlayer on RPi 3.
