no idea on your connecting issues, or how it might have gotten this way, but you might want to check settings->choose player on the new (which is controlling the old), to see if it is set to "old" and it changing it to "new" fixes the controlling issue. If they are both named "squeezebox radio" changing the name(s) might help you understand whats what. edit - I see mrw suggested the same...
