A while back I've noticed that the [Messaging
API](https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Messaging_API_proposal) allows to
retrieve deleted messages via the API (`GET /api/0.6/user/messages/_nnn_`).
This seems to be inconsistent to how our UI works, where deleted messages are
no longer shown.
We also don't have a concept of a Trash folder where deleted messages would be
moved to and automatically (physically) deleted after some time, with the
option for users to trigger a physical deletion at any time.
The Messaging API requirements section doesn't seem to cover the topic in
sufficient detail. What would be a sensible approach?
