Yeah, just (started to) read it, but then it was just too much text, so I
skipped to the code changes made by the PR. The magic is here,

unfortunately indeed there is no documentation (in the wiki) about this, so
not sure what should be changed (in StreetComplete) to enable this button.
Also, it is unfortunate that this requires a change in the client to work
properly. This means that every single client would need to implement it to
make it work. That sounds like bad design. Shouldn't openstreetmap-website be
perfectly capable of memorizing that the user is in the oauth-authorization
flow and make the "continue authorization" button appear without special
parameters after the "Welcome" page?
(Sorry, I can not contribute anything productive other than making complaints
here, I neither do know ruby nor my way around the openstreetmap-website source
code)
