For maximum downwards compatibility I’d recommend to store any fancy formatting
with ActionText dependencies in a separate database column and still keep a
plain text version in today’s database column. On cgimap side I will then
simply ignore whatever you’re putting in that new column. The extra space
needed should be negligible.
