I didn't completely figure things out last night but I think this is the root
cause of the problem:

The intention is that if you start with say February then each time you get to
January you add 12 so that the numbers carry on going up but in this case we're
starting in January as the first value and unnecessarily add 12 so the values
start from 13 as the first "month".
