I did a small plugin named acts_as_translated. It's a quick hack not 
related with Globalize. It provides in-model translated attribute with 
view helpers that easy input text handling.
It's still beta but I wanted to push it on RubyForge and I didn't yet by 
lack of time

I don't know if it can be useful to somebody else but I can try to put 
it on RubyForge tomorow if any request.
