First, see the screenshots at http://github.com/yar/i18n_db_admin. I hope you like the translations editor - it is quite fool-proof and can be handled by non-IT people, unlike yaml files. It also highlights missing and outdated (e.g older than in the main language) translation records. The two plugins behind the scenes of the demo app are: 1) i18n_db - a plugin that keeps translations in SQL database + memcached. Actually, fetching all the translations from memcached would be slow on each request, so it additionally caches them in per- process memory, but verifies cache version each time via a small memcached lookup. * It supports fallback locale * It auto-creates database records for the missing translation keys * It supports macro substitutions and deeply nested namespaces 2) simple_loc_compat - a plugin that provides syntax compatible with Simple Localization (http://simple-localization.arkanis.de). Please let me know what you think. We are using this combination of plugins to drive a site that gets millions of pageviews on a good day, and has a dozen of translations provided by volunteers, remotely.
