Gloria Jeans mightn't have the best coffee (its not bad, though go to Campos if you want the good stuff) but they don't really care about how long you use the wireless (despite the notice on the wall). There is always lots of people with laptops there enjoying the comfy seating. A few seats have powerpoints. If you can land one of the seats near the window Newtown always provides good people watching. GJ is the best offering on the city side of the station AFAIK.

I've found the easiest way to find hotspots is just to find Unwired uConnect There's probably a pile of other cafes and bars with free wifi, but Unwired have enough places wired to make it easier just to go to one place and find highway in Newtown; I can't recommend any of them in particular, as I've not visited any. The one uConnect I've used is at Strawberry X in Surry Hills, which was a pretty cool place to spend the day hacking and talking with (Unaffiliated with Unwired, Strawberry X, or anything else pimped in this "I'm tempted to try Gentoo, but...
