Hello Tom, JRuby is fast becoming a realistic option, perhaps making the Ruby vs Java decision easier. JRuby and Java can call each others code, JRuby runs Rails, is Ruby 1.8 compatible and achieves similar to better performance. The deployment story is more like Java than Rails, and soon it will have connection pooling and multithreading making it far more efficient on resources than normal Rails.
