You guys should pick up what we do in brisbane if you don't have something equivalent. Offset from our normal ruby meetups we have a get together day that we call ActionHack. We usually start on a saturday and go from 12pm till as late as 8 or 9pm (one even went later i think). We usually have about 12-15 people though more would come if we could find the space for it. Definitely one of the more enjoyable ways for geeks to get together and there is usually a lot of awesome conversation, without the pressure for presentations or any formal agenda -- we all just code and share our ideas/experiences. Great fun.
