In MySQL, I couldn't find a way to get a consistent, transaction-safe database dump, without paying money to upgrade to the commercial version of InnoDB.

In PostgreSQL, you simply run pg_dump.

I have a bunch more reasons why pgsql>mysql, but this one was enough of a show-stopper for me that I see no reason to go on.
