The first RailsConf in 2006 was amazing. It was small (only 550 people) and Rails was new (only two books in print). It sold out months early and the atmosphere there was amazing. At the time, the Melbourne Ruby Users Group didn't exist. It was amazing meeting other Ruby/Rails people and we were all at similar levels of experience. The next international conference I attend will be similar. New, small, revolutionary, no group in Melbourne. The second NoKill Conference<http://www.nokillconference.org/> sold out in a couple of weeks and the atmosphere will be amazing. When considering overseas conferences, consider subject matter you're not already experienced in and movements that don't already have groups in your town and lots of books, screencasts, etc. If money and time were no object, I would be at RailsConf 2010 - they're great fun - but in reality I have to chose. - Mike -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby or Rails Oceania" group.
