Hi Folks,

I'm really passionate about Ruby on Rails which is why I started my RoR based web dev business, run a free Rails job board, and co- organise the monthly Perth RoRo group. However after having hired a dev for my business early this year, and spoken with firms that have been through the same process recently, it's evident that the professional talent pool is limited. I believe that the continued success of the framework depends on the existence of a larger pool of professional Ruby on Rails developers, and at the very least, such a pool would make life a bit easier for some of us right now.

Because of this, myself and Myles Eftos (MadPilot Productions) have started a Ruby on Rails Training business ( http://railstraining.in ) with the first course designed as a low cost introduction to the Ruby language and the Ruby on Rails framework. Our hope is that by offering professional training services accessible to everyone, we can help to foster the growth of the Ruby on Rails ecosystem and our continued happiness as developers working with a great framework.

Our first course runs over 4 weeks in Perth. I know that from private training I ran for Daryl Manning's Getup! dev team in Sydney last year, and enquiries made through our website, that there is interest from the Eastern states. We would love to run courses in the cities over East as well, but we need to gather enough support from devs before crossing the Nullarbor. We've created an expression of interest form on our website that I'd encourage anyone not in Perth but interested in the course to complete. You will find the syllabus and further details on our website - http://railstraining.in

Alex.
