It's not bad, but I think the refactoring book is a much better read.
I found the DP book a little too basic and pretty short, but the
Refactoring book had more meat that you can grow into as you get
better with Ruby. But if you're a complete beginner you might
appreciate the Ruby intro chapter in the DP book, but I think it's a
waste of space to include an intro to Ruby chapter in a book about
design patterns.
