Sure John, I understand. I realised this morning that after I flat out replied with "no" someone would want to know why.
The answer is simple, and two fold. The speakers put in a hell of a lot of preparation time, I'd hate for anyone to feel "rejected". This is happened before, it sucked. I don't want it happening again. Speakers change from day to day. As an estimate, I aim to book 6 talks and expect to only ever have 3. People drop out. I took a liberty and chose to do it this way. Your point about new folks is a good one though. At times, I simply forget to write it up, organising speakers and a venue is time consuming—everything else is just thrown together quickly. Having said that, I know you *all* have very busy schedules—usually the choice for me is "do I want to geek out tonight or not?"
