I've got an issue where I'm pulling a fair bit of stuff from an external API on each pageload (using the Fleakr gem.) On live I'm caching this really aggressively in the templates, but in development mode it grinds the pages to a crawl.
How do people alleviate this problem short of commenting out the offending code in dev?
