Hi,

Solutions First (Sol1) is an established IT services company filled with bright
young people. We specialise in web development and hosting, as well as server
and desktop support. We're looking for a full-time web ninja to join our
development team of 5-6 and help out on a wide variety of development projects.

We support a wide range of customers, from big to small, using a wide array of
technology. On the web front, we provide small CMS builds through to complex
workflow-based (int|ext)ranets, delivery systems and mashups. We're especially
passionate about Open Source software and, in the web team, use it almost
exclusively.

Sol1 is a great place to work, with a friendly and loyal team, and a flat
management structure. We all work hard, but hours can be flexible. The owners,
Andy and Dave, are wholly involved in the day-to-day operation of the business,
and are keen to hear about your penchants in technology, and open to letting
you run with your own projects.

The applicant for this position must have Australian residency and have very
good skills in the following:

        • HTML, CSS, XML, and working with DOMs
        • Javascript and Javascript frameworks
        • PHP 5 – minimum 2 years commercial experience
        • Ruby and Ruby on Rails – minimum 1 year commercial experience
        • OO programming
        • Experience with a variety of MVC frameworks
        • Experience with least one modern SCM tool.

Also looked on favourably:

        • Enthusiasm for working with customers on architecting systems
        • Linux, BSD or OSX server administration, esp. Ubuntu
        • Apache, nginx or lighttpd, MySQL or Postgresql administration
        • Experience in test-driven development
        • Knowledge of mobile technologies and GPS
        • Silverstripe and/or Wordpress skills
        • Experience developing MindTouch extensions
        • Experience with Puppet (Ruby)

You must have good qualities in the following areas:

        • Reliable and punctual
        • Great communication skills
        • A pragmatic design and troubleshooting style
        • Open to learning and working with any technology
        • Fluent written and spoken English

We can provide:

        • A good salary in accordance with your experience
        • Option to work from home, one day a week
        • Relaxed and fulfilling work environment
        • Development workstation of your choice
        • A mobile
        • Free web hosting and beer

We are based in North Sydney, with most of our clients all over Sydney and some
interstate/overseas. We generally support our clients remotely and have a
mixture of client relationships including support contracts, ad-hoc support and
larger ongoing projects. Occasionally we'll work onsite with clients if it's
more agile. If you come onboard, be prepared to learn, work hard, and be
rewarded.

Please send resumes, URLs to any OSS involvement, webblahgs etc to
[email protected] (please, no recruitment agencies) and if you're up our alley,
we'll get you in for a coffee.

Cheers,

- Andy
