Hi All, I know we mentioned that we were hiring at the last RORO meet; but I thought I’d flesh out our needs a little more.
In short, we have way to much work and way too little Rails experience on the floor here. We need good, experienced Rails developers to step us up a little. JS skills will be highly regarded; as will Java. REA (realestate.com.au) has a massive amount of work planned for the next 12 to 18 months and a lot of that will be Ruby on Rails including: 1. One of our major subsystems (currently implemented in Perl), will be re-written from the ground up in Rails. We’re really excited about this, and I can tell you that the early design work allowing for the gradual separation and isolation of all the nasty legacy back-end is World Class. 2. We’ve just started building a suite of widgets, with future work including a self-serve site on which our partners can assemble and configure their own widgets. 3. We’re building out a RESTful API in Rails. Work is already underway and we’re right on the cutting edge when it comes to all that RESTful goodness. We’re Agile, and in a big way. So if you want the best there is in terms of on-floor Agile coaching from the likes of Thoughtworks and Cogent Consulting; big time BDD experience (you haven’t seen Cucumber until you’ve seen our test suites!); regular in-house speakers such as Jim Webber, Dan North, and Martin Fowler; in-house Innovation Days and a new physical working environment custom-built to aid Agile work practices, then get in touch. Oh, and there’s free beer and pizza on Fridays. All work will be from the office here at Level 3, 678 Victoria Street Richmond in Melbourne. We’ll start most people on contract with a view to go permanent once we both know we like each other. We want you as soon as we can get you here. If you’re interested, please send me your CV and availability date. No Agencies please. I'll call you:) Cheers Mike P.S. I’m not permitted to publish rates. We don’t pay as much as the Big Banks, but we’re a lot less beige than them too -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby or Rails Oceania" group.
