If you don't know us, Cogent is a Melbourne-based boutique software development consultancy, with a particular bias towards Ruby development and agile processes. Cogent is growing, and we're looking for more people to join our team. We got started by assembling some of the best people we'd worked with in the past, and we don’t want that standard to slip. It’s a high bar to get over, but we’ll be thrilled to see someone clear it. The way we run the company internally is quite different. We have a policy of being totally open with our employees, so we share all company related information, including people’s salary and company financial information. We think that if the company does well, it’s because of the work of all of our staff, so we share our profits amongst everyone. We’re not interested in how many degrees you have, or even if you finished high school. We want people who are smart, and can get things done. Building good relationships with our customers is very important to us, so we expect everyone to be personable and to communicate very well. If you’re uncomfortable about that, please don’t apply. Cogent isn’t the place to learn those skills on the fly.
