Hello again,

This week's three hundred and thirty third job post is *very* similar
to the one we sent out before but the net is open a little wider...
There, now you can get back to watching railscasts :)

What are we looking for?
A software engineer/craftsman but you're not the finished article
right now. You've got a belief in doing the right thing, you want to
make high quality software and you want to develop in a team small
enough to really value you as an individual. We write RoR and we're
looking for someone who's going to contribute awesome to our code
base. If you write good code in any OO or functional language then
we're interested. We'll put in the effort to make you a class act in
Ruby and SQL, give you some HTML/CSS and if you're really unlucky
Javascript ;) On top of that you'll get to work in a devops
environment so you'll be familiar with the full software stack for an
application as well as hardware considerations. You'll be working on
a terminal so you'll need to be comfortable with that. We want you to
support what you deploy so that means you need familiarity with Linux
and SQL to bootstrap with. Most of all we want the desire, attitude
and approach, I don't care where you're from, if you went to uni or if
you can drive a submarine. Can you solve a problem? Do you want to
make beautiful software? If so I'm keen to have a chat.

What would I be working on?
We have this tool called Integrity, its an RoR app with OK test
coverage and it collects data to feed into Business Intelligence apps.
It's designed to hoover up the scraps of data lying around in an
organisation and make sure they're OK to feed into your BI setup. The
app has a configuration front end and a data munching backend, so as
you'd expect Integrity can end up munching a lot of data. There are
some lumpy bits in the code right now which require some refactoring
TLC but then if was perfect that would be boring wouldn't it? We have
a small number of customers right now but we have a number of trials
in the pipeline (which is one of the reasons why we need you). It's a
web app deployed as an appliance monitored by things like New Relic.
We also have some other ideas flowing out of the consultancy business
right now that are interesting so we're not a one trick pony either.

Who are we?
C3 Business Solutions (C3 for short, that's what we say). We're a
Business Intelligence consultancy that decided we need to do our own
software. We have awards for Integrity from the AIIA and have some
press like the BRW magazine's 100 fastest-growing Australian companies
and SmartCompany's Smart 50. But I suspect you're more interested in
the biscuits rather than the packet, so lets talk a bit about the real
deal. We're a small team right now, technically four people but we're
on the lookout for three new hires. We run an XP-based process and we
work out of a little office in docklands with a whiteboard wall. Is
there a dress code? Nope, we binned that :)

So if I'm interested?
Drop me a line at [email protected] (see I fixed
it!) with some details of who you are (CV, Linkedin, Github, etc. are
all interesting) and how we can get hold of you.

Rob
