Hi everyone, The August RORO meetup is this Thursday, at the Thoughtworks offices on the corner of Elizabeth and Collins.
If you've never been before, the idea is— some talks and food, and then to the pub for a chat. Come along and meet some other Melbourne rubyists. The vital statistics: This Thursday, the 25th 6pm for a 6.30pm start. Loiter at the door to be buzzed up. Late arrivals, confused newbies, and elaborate practical jokes: contact me, @ben_h / 0438 240 583. If you've never spoken before, you should give a quick talk. Don't be intimidated, RORO talks can be as informal, unplanned and short as you like. An interesting hack you did or a gem you've co-opted to do something offbeat makes a perfect 1, 5, or 15 minute lightning talk. The rule of thumb is, if it'll get people talking or arguing over drinks afterwards, you should present it. This month, I'd like to see a solid half dozen lightning talks. Let's have 'em! N.B.: A couple of people mentioned to me last month that they'd like to speak. I'm sorry but I have forgotten, again. (I have since bought a diary; I'm mending my forgetful ways.)
