Hello Ruby people (you little gems), Apologies for what is a bit of a form letter!
Software Freedom Day is a public education effort with the aim of increasing awareness of Free Software and its virtues, and encouraging its use. This year, Melbourne's event will be held at The Hub, 80 Harbour Esplanade, Docklands starting at noon on Saturday 17th of September. Write this date in your diary! We would like a presence from Ruby users in Melbourne at this event and would encourage such people to bring some friends along. This year we're using the day to build The Freedom Network - a community of free software advocates, programmers, systems operators, database administrators, hardware specialists, and application users - dedicated to the principle that free software is necessary and effective. We will plan, network, workshop and share ideas on what we're going to do in the coming year to promote Software Freedom in the coming year. Planned workshops include advocating free software in developing countries, building free software communities in Victoria, free software for beginners, and code sharing. If any of you are interested in in running a workshop, please let us know. Best wishes, Lev Lafayette Linux Users of Victoria http://luv.asn.au http://wiki.softwarefreedomday.org/2011/Australia/VIC/Melbourne/SFD -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby or Rails Oceania" group.
