Hi everyone Last week, after discussions between several Rubyists from all over Australia which began at the last Rails Camp, Richie Khoo and myself registered the incorporated association Ruby Australia.
The purpose of this is to provide support for the Ruby community (not to run it!) - particularly in the form of a bank account and insurance for Rails Camps and other such events. The running of this association will be transparent, and we're keen to have feedback from the community as things progress (and will be seeking committee members at the next Rails Camp). Right now, it's still early days - we'll be looking to get the association registered Australia-wide (instead of just within Victoria - necessary for insurance purposes), and sort out a bank account and other such administrivia. If you have any questions, feel free to ask - I just wanted to let people know sooner rather than later.
