Hello All, My name is Mikel Lindsaar and it's been a month since my last job post :)
We are looking for a developer in or around the Sydney area who has a good deal of experience in the world of databases, specifically PostgreSQL Your database experience should be in Postgres with smatterings in anything else SQLish. The important thing is that you have a sound mind when it comes to structure and design of complex data sets and know how and when to drop out of being hand held by ActiveRecord and use the raw power that is idling underneath 99.9% of Rails applications out there. We have some complex client projects in our immediate future revolving around large and complex data sets that you will be getting your teeth sunk into and would love you to come on board to help. We primarily work in Rails, sometimes raw ruby and any component connected with these sorts of environments. Of course, you are expected to have a broad understanding of common web based technologies. We don't expect you to be an expert in everything. Using these strengths together as a team is what allows us to produce top quality work. We expect you should be able to fit into this model. The job entails working mainly remotely, at home, in a cafe, whatever floats your boat. You can also spend time in our office if you want. You will need to make onsite appearances with clients from time to time and we have a once a month staff meeting breakfast in Darling Harbour in Sydney. The pay is good. You will earn between $80k - $100k+ per year depending on several things, one, of course, is your skill, the other is how you take advantage of our awesome development bonus system that rewards you for putting in quality production and effort. This is a permanent position, you'll get a trial period to see if you like us and we like you. There are some perks to the job. We send you to Rails Camps and we also work to get you to Rails or Ruby related conferences, especially if you are speaking! One thing we can promise is working at RubyX is never boring! Send me an email to [email protected] and tell me why you would like to be one of our designers or developers with your contact info. Show me something you are proud of that you have produced. Tertiary qualifications are much less important than demonstrable quality code and products. Looking forward to your email.
