Gday Michael

I would like to add that you constantly measure the changes being made
to such an application through the use of metrical (or metric_fu under
the hood).

Regularly measuring the effect of the changes you're imposing will
indicate how you're gradually achieving your goals (a cleaner, more
terse, DRY, idiomatic and well tested codebase).
