Hi folks,

I am a freelance mathematician and software developer based in
Melbourne (as of mid-December). Since I am new to freelancing, I would
appreciate some tips on how to find decently paying short-term
projects, both in web development and other areas. I have a couple of
long-term contracts coming up, but will very likely be looking for
additional work on the side.

I've had a brief look at guru.com. Is anyone using this or similar
sites? What are your experiences? What strategies for self-promotion
have you found useful and which ones have been a waste of time?

Cheers,
Olaf
