There's plenty of work out there, it's simply a matter of finding it.

Of course, where you are based is a factor - not all companies are
progressive/flexible enough to permit off-site work.

I recommend that you give Steve Gilles a shout. He'd be quite happy to give
you some free advice to help you get your foot in the door. He's a
recruiter but he's one of the good guys, he's technical (a regular rails
camp attendee) and understands the Ruby community.

He's @stevelikesyou on Twitter. I think he's overseas at the moment though,
so he might not get back to you immediately.
