Hi all, My client, Sydney based, is currently on the hunt for 5 Senior Developers to assist them with a brand now approved project. The key thing for my client is skills where I advised that solid Senior Developers are earning between $100-$140k (which has been my experience). Anything above $140k is heading into Development Manager territory...and a Senior Developer earning $140k and remaining a Senior Developer would be absolutely at the top of their game.
It would be expected that the candidates have 3+ years commercial experience with Ruby and prior experience of 3+ years with another language. This essentially shows that you have been around the block, have come across many obstacles and overcome them...something that only experience and time can provide. Most of the more senior candidates I have spoken with during my time have had this experience. If you have 3+ years of RoR experience coming out of university, then you are very lucky and we would still like to speak with you, although you would be competing with people who have that and 4+ years commercial experience as well, within another language. I agree that it doesn't necessarily make them a better RoR programmer, just that in this instance it counts as you would have had more exposure to mentoring opportunities, more projects during that time of varying difficulties, more interactions with various customers, work colleagues etc Please contact me Rob Stevens (Higher Recruitment) on [email protected] or my landline 02 9439 4643 I have copied the SEEK Advertisement that we posted yesterday which will give further information Hope to hear from you Kind Regards Rob ***SEEK AD**** Our client is currently on the hunt for 5 x Senior Ruby on Rails developers for an up and coming approved project. The right candidates will have this level of experience and these qualities:- * 2-5 years continual commercial Ruby on Rails development experience * 3+ years prior development experience within another language...the longer you have worked in a competing language prior to move to Ruby on Rails is of interest and indicates seniority. * TDD/BDD focused * Results Oriented * Low level architecture experience * Fully conversant with tools such as Cucumber and/Rspec * Strong skills or knowledge of the AGILE process * Solid skills with Javascript, JQuery, HTML, CSS, AJAX * Github account (most of the good RoR developers do) * Solid RDBMS skills (MYSQL etc) * Commitment to quality UI * Team focused yet can work autonomously when needed to * Ideally degree qualified and comfortable in suggesting and critiquing ideas Skills are what matter most to my client, therefore he is essentially looking for the best. Salary packages won't exceed $140k (inc super). And to achieve that level for a permanent role, you will have to be truly outstanding. Generally the $140k range is moving towards Development Manager which these roles are not. The role is Sydney based, and due to the number of people my client requires, you could move as part of a team or with a friend who is also on the lookout. People already having a solid working relationship together will be highly regarded Suitable candidates should submit their CV online to be considered immediately -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Ruby or Rails Oceania" group.
