Redbubble <http://www.redbubble.com/> is hosting a series of events where
the Tech Community can come together and discuss some thought-provoking
ideas, led by both our own team and members of the community that inspire
us. So come in, share a drink and lets talk tech!

This month…..

*Redbubble's Michael Milewski
<http://au.linkedin.com/in/sirmichaelmilewski> will be presenting
“Experiences test-driving infrastructure”*

With no internal Ops team, an ever growing team of new Redbubble recruits
and a legacy infrastructure that was only documented by the bare metal
server it is running on, the aim was to fail over the whole Redbubble
website to a brand new environment in the cloud. This was done using legacy
code techniques such as writing unit tests around every part of the
existing infrastructure, building out functionality in the new cloud
infrastructure bit by bit using infrastructure as code tools and learning
from breaking every part of the app in the process. This is a set of war
stories on using RSpec extension ServerSpec, bringing developers up to
speed with Ops 101 server configuration, and applying soft skills to build
an effective team, some could say the best team in the world....

A bit about Redbubble

At Redbubble we like tackling large-scale engineering challenges. We’re
dealing with 100s of millions of products, we’re helping millions of
customers to find the right product for them and we do this all while
moving quickly. How quick? We deploy when we need to, an idea in the
morning can be live straight after lunch and often is. Nothing is too small
for a quick experiment, there is always at least one test running and we
learn something new about our customers every day. We measure rather than
debate, this lets us be bold with our thinking.

While our team of engineering, product, design & user experience is
growing, we’re focused on keeping teams small, autonomous and flexible.
Everyone contributes from concept to customer, and we celebrate success
together. Please click here
