A fundamental. I apologise if this is covered in the install fest, but
setting up rvm or rbenv for proper ruby version management. This includes
using these tools to create gemsets that can be loaded for project specific
folders.
(A discussion between these tools and reasons why people choose one over
the other, or other strategies, is also useful).

Of course all these processes have motivations for their use. So
explaining to beginners the reasons why this is done is as important as
explaining the tools.

A correctly setup environment, including an understanding of the
environment will guide a beginner toward the ruby and way. Hopefully it
will also enable them to steer clear of unecessary difficulty. This might
fit well prior to a git discussion.

Thoughts?
